Cotton Candy

Outside the Church I saw Nong Erning selling his specialty "Cotton Candy". He sells it at P5.00 per pack. According to him, his revenue is a bit low compared to selling outside the school during school days. For this fiesta he would often end up at P100+ while on regular days at school he would gain around P800.00. He is from Lapu-lapu and came to Medellin to sell his Cotton Candy.

I admire people like him. He make use of his time by doing something, not just depending on what others could give him.

Outside the church, I met Arvin who was so curious about my cam. He asked "Te, mu picture diay ka te?" I smiled and asked him if I could take a picture of him. He had that huge smile on his face and was trying to cover his face with the candles he was selling. I took several frames while talking to him. He was so happy when i showed him his pictures. You could find his other picture in my other blog titled "beautiful faces".

I don't know why I'm so interested with old ladies. I really like to capture emotions, candid shots, natural thing.. I'm attracted to them. I love pictures that could tell you a story just by merely looking at them.

Sabongero

It was around 4pm when I went to the cockfighting arena to shoot.

I was a little girl back then when I last entered this place. I could remember how we won the derby with our rooster's name Supersonic. My Papa used to be a big fan of this game. Back then my role was to help Papa in preparing the food for his roosters.

Well, I had fun shooting the Sabongeros. I learned their terms like kuymi, masyador, biya, inilog, 10-7, 10-6, the hand signs for 50, 500, 5K, 15K, 30K and more. Someone thought Im from media:)

Its difficult to shoot a cockfighting though cause the movement is so fast. I still have to study the tricks. I think I have to go back there again and practice more:)

travel back home

its always nice to be back home... i went right away to the trans loading area after I put my stuff in my room. the farmers were very friendly as i was trying to make them comfortable with my presence.. I met Manong Rudy, Nong Martin and the little boy Jinboy who was with his father. I never had the chance of knowing all of them except for the little boy who was a bit shy when i asked for his name. I got to know Nong Rudy and Martin through my Papa and our lavandera Nang Marciana when I showed them some of my shots. Nang Marciana was really surprised how i got a picture of his brother Martin, told her... "we are friends:)"

I love its plum color and it looks so tempting... so attractive. How I wish to preserve it, but I need to use this as a decor to the wedding cake I'm making for Jontue and Paw.
